چکیده

Patients Between December 2007 and January 2013, we treated patients with postprimary TKA flexion contractures with CPSNB in conjunction with an aggressive physical therapy regimen. The inclusion criteria consisted of flexion contractures greater than 15° after primary TKA and at least 3 months of conventional physical therapy with no improvement. The exclusion criteria consisted of patients who had clinical or radiographic abnormalities or who refused the treatment. Fifteen patients (15 knees) (12 females and 3 males between 56 and 75 years old with a median age of 67.3 years) enrolled in this study.

Acute Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty for Proximal Tibial Fractures in Elderly

Background: Proximal tibial fractures in elderly patients with osteoporosis or knee osteoarthritis (OA) are challengingcases. In the current study, we present our experience with uncommon acute primary total knee arthroplasty (PTKA)in this patient population. Methods: PTKAs were performed following proximal tibial fractures in 30 consecutive patients over 60 years of agewith osteoporosis or knee...

The analgesic effects of proximal, distal, or no sciatic nerve block on posterior knee pain after total knee arthroplasty: a double-blind placebo-controlled randomized trial.

BACKGROUND The analgesic efficacy of sciatic nerve block (SNB) after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is unclear. Proximal and distal SNB are each reported to provide posterior knee analgesia, whereas others suggest that posterior knee pain is not important after TKA. This prospective, randomized, double-blind, parallel-arm, placebo-controlled trial examined whether proximal or distal SNB provides...

The use of thermoplastic material in treatment of Proximal Interphalangeal Joint Flexion Contractures

Abstract:   Objectives: Flexion contractures of the proximal interphalangeal joint are of the most common complication result from surgical procedures and traumatic events.  Orthotic interventions for treatment of contractures may include serial splinting, serial casting, dynamic and/ or static progressive orthoses, or a combination of these orthoses.  This study aimed to determine the effect ...

Continuous femoral nerve blockade and single-shot sciatic nerve block promotes better analgesia and lower bleeding for total knee arthroplasty compared to intrathecal morphine: a randomized trial

BACKGROUND Knee arthroplasty leads to postoperative pain. This study compares analgesia and postoperative bleeding achieved by intrathecal morphine with a continuous femoral plus single-shot sciatic nerve block. METHODS A randomized non-blinded clinical trial enrolled patients aged over 18 years old, ASA I to III who underwent total knee arthroplasty. All patients underwent spinal anesthesia ...

Does Combination Therapy of Popliteal Sciatic Nerve Block and Adductor Canal Block Effectively Control Early Postoperative Pain after Total Knee Arthroplasty?

Purpose We compared adductor canal block (ACB) alone and a combination of ACB and sciatic nerve block (SNB) to control early postoperative pain after total knee arthroplasty. Materials and Methods One hundred patients received continuous ACB alone (group A), and another 100 patients received continuous ACB and single popliteal SNB (group B). Pain was evaluated at rest and 45° knee flexion usi...
